What could your seawall cost?
Published planning ranges help you start a budget. Your property’s final price depends on the scope and site conditions.
Enter your wall length and material to see a construction range without an existing quote. Minor repairs use the affected length. You can also enter your own price and add known extras.

Repair prices by type
The repair comparison uses HomeGuide’s national 2023 range for minor non-structural work. Use only the length needing repair; structural rehabilitation and changes in height need their own scope and quote.
| Work | Amount | What the price covers | Area and source |
|---|---|---|---|
Minor non-structural repairs | $100–$250 | per foot of wall; Minor non-structural work only, over the length needing repair. Structural damage needs a separate quote. | United States, published 2023 [2] |
New-wall prices per foot
Vinyl, composite, concrete and steel use SeaBee’s published Florida planning ranges. Truline and timber use HomeGuide’s national 2023 benchmarks. Source locations and dates stay visible.
| Material / work | Price per foot of wall | Area, included work and source |
|---|---|---|
Vinyl | $400–$650 | Florida planning estimates (2026) · Construction benchmark; design, permits, removal and difficult access may add costs. [1] |
Composite | $500–$800 | Florida planning estimates (2026) · Construction benchmark; design, permits, removal and difficult access may add costs. [1] |
Concrete | $650–$900 | Florida planning estimates (2026) · Construction benchmark; design, permits, removal and difficult access may add costs. [1] |
Steel | $700–$1,000+ | Florida planning estimates (2026) · Construction benchmark; design, permits, removal and difficult access may add costs. [1] |
Concrete-filled vinyl (Truline) | $500–$1,200 | United States, published 2023 · Installed Truline benchmark; not a price for every hybrid system. [2] |
Wood (timber) | $150–$500 | United States, published 2023 · Installed wood-wall benchmark; freshwater context, not a saltwater design recommendation. [2] |
Material not decided | $400–$1,000+ | Florida planning estimates (2026) · General construction comparison across materials; choose a material to narrow the range. [1] |
50-, 75- and 100-foot examples
Multiply the wall length by the price per foot. These examples use wall length to show construction costs. Add any work not included in the price per foot.
| Material / work | 50 feet | 75 feet | 100 feet |
|---|---|---|---|
Vinyl | $20,000–$32,500 | $30,000–$48,750 | $40,000–$65,000 |
Composite | $25,000–$40,000 | $37,500–$60,000 | $50,000–$80,000 |
Concrete | $32,500–$45,000 | $48,750–$67,500 | $65,000–$90,000 |
Steel | $35,000–$50,000+ | $52,500–$75,000+ | $70,000–$100,000+ |
Concrete-filled vinyl (Truline) | $25,000–$60,000 | $37,500–$90,000 | $50,000–$120,000 |
Wood (timber) | $7,500–$25,000 | $11,250–$37,500 | $15,000–$50,000 |
Material not decided | $20,000–$50,000+ | $30,000–$75,000+ | $40,000–$100,000+ |
For example: 75 ft × $400–$650/ft = $30,000–$48,750. Check your wall length and what the price includes.
What to include in your price
Request one written scope that matches the permit drawings. Use these lines to uncover omissions before signing.
- Inspection, design, wall material, wall length and planned height.
- Removing the old wall, waste disposal, site access and temporary protection.
- Drainage, soil behind the wall, supports, wall cap, docks and utilities.
- Permit applications, fees, inspections, cleanup and final paperwork.
- Extra costs, work left out, a reserve for unexpected work and approval of price changes.
A real local fee, with the right limits
The county’s linked fee schedule, effective October 11, 2021, lists $200 as the application fee for Deck, Dock or Seawall. Ask the office for the current total, including any additional charges. A municipal application fee cannot stand in for engineering, environmental review or the construction price.
Why a public seawall budget is not your quote
The city’s FY2026–2030 Young Park plan compares an estimated $765,000 repair with a $5,685,000 replacement. Those are alternatives for a particular public structure with different assumed outcomes. They are not homeowner rates, accepted bids or a price-per-foot benchmark.
What you can borrow is the sequence: assess the wall, compare defined alternatives, then price the selected scope. Ask your estimator to explain every quantity and assumption.

Ask what access costs before comparing materials
| Site condition | Ask for a separate answer |
|---|---|
Narrow side yard | What equipment can reach the wall, and what must be protected or removed? |
Dock connected to the wall | What disconnects, reconstruction and separate permits are included? |
Pool, patio or buried services nearby | Who locates the services and designs the protection? |
Water-based access | Who confirms navigable access, habitat constraints and staging permission? |
Landscaped waterfront | Which irrigation, planting and hardscape restoration is included? |
Compare the same quantities and exclusions
- Match wall length, retained height, alignment and material.
- Separate design, permitting, demolition and disposal.
- Identify cap, panel, anchor and drainage work.
- Name the restoration limits and final records.
- Write down allowances and the approval process for changes.
If one price omits access or drainage, ask for a revised total before calling it cheaper. The assessment guide helps define the missing investigation.
What makes two quotes comparable?
Consider two proposals for the same replacement. One lists wall construction and a price per foot. The other includes design and demolition but leaves dock work to the owner. Neither description establishes the lower total.
| Item | Proposal A | Proposal B |
|---|---|---|
Wall and design | Wall quoted; design by owner | Wall and design quoted |
Old-wall removal | Not stated | Included |
Dock connections | Not stated | Excluded |
Yard restoration | Allowance, limits unclear | Defined area included |
Ask both providers to price or clearly exclude the same missing items. Keep an unpriced item marked unknown. Calling it zero would make an incomplete proposal look cheaper.

Which costs are known, allowed for or still missing?
Label each line consistently so an omitted cost cannot disappear into the total.
Included price
The agreed amount for a defined quantity and scope. Confirm exactly what that line covers.
Allowance
An amount set aside for a described item. The agreement should explain how the actual cost is reconciled.
Excluded
Work outside this proposal. Name who will arrange it and pay for it.
Unknown
An item awaiting investigation or a quote. Keep it visible; do not count it as zero.
For concealed damage, agree who records the finding, who approves the changed scope and how added work will be priced. Your contingency is a planning reserve; it does not expand the contractor’s scope.
What can you do before the final price is known?
Request a scoped next step: the assessment or design needed to turn the unknowns into a construction proposal. Ask what deliverable you receive, which areas remain inaccessible and whether the result will support permit drawings.
- Confirm the property and wall segment being evaluated.
- Keep assessment and design fees separate from construction figures.
- Ask which missing information could materially change the repair choice.
- Use the same drawings and scope when seeking construction prices.
The local checklist expects the survey or site plan and sealed structural drawings to agree. That helps the contract, permit package and quote describe the same project.

How to use these prices
Construction estimates multiply the selected published per-foot range by wall length. Minor repairs use the affected length and a separate national 2023 benchmark. These are planning comparisons, not measured Vero Beach bid averages. Height, exposure and access do not trigger guessed multipliers. Enter your own quote to add priced extras and a reserve. County fees and public-project budgets remain separate context.
